This is the horrible email Suella Braverman is sending to the Tory faithful. Make no mistake, this othering and demonisation of asylum seekers and those who defend their rights is a classic indicator of this country’s descent into fascism. Resist!
Here is the email in full with my annotations.
“We tried to stop the small boat crossings without changing our laws.
But an activist blob of left-wing lawyers, civil servants and the Labour Party blocked us.
[A WHAT? Inflammatory language. Attacking her own civil servants. Putting people at risk.]
So today we’re changing our laws — and bringing the small boat crossings to an end.
[PUNISHING VICTIMS WHILE DOING NOTHING TO TACKLE THE GANGS]
When we introduced our Rwanda deal, Labour pledged to reverse it.
When we introduced new laws to protect our borders, Keir Starmer refused to back them — 30 times.
[BECAUSE HE’s HUMAN, HUMANE and LAW-ABIDING!]
Anyone crossing the Channel will be detained and removed — no ifs, no buts
[THERE ARE NO LEGAL ROUTES!]
Asylum claims will only be heard in Rwanda or another safe country, not the UK
[NONE OF THIS IS LEGAL!]
Asylum seekers will no longer have an automatic right to make a claim under modern slavery rules
Asylum seekers will no longer be able to make late or spurious claims to delay being removed
Human rights claims will only be heard after asylum seekers have been removed.
No more false claims. No more automatic right to stay.
If you take a small boat across the Channel, you will be removed.
So share the news: we’re stopping small boat crossings once and for all.
While the activist blob of left-wing lawyers and their friends in Labour will try to block us, we’re moving ahead anyway — and putting the British people first.
